Jekawili, based in the country’s second largest city, Bouaké, is the only Emmaus group in Côte d’Ivoire. It has a poultry farm and orchards which, as well as generating income to develop social initiatives, also makes it possible to employ between 7 and 25 people depending on the season.

Jekawili also carries out a range of social initiatives. They provide medicine and clothing to the elderly and to widows with children.

23,000 young people have been reached out to as part of awareness-raising about sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) Jekawili implements literacy sessions, finds apprenticeships for young people in difficulty and contributes to setting up holiday centres in the villages.

In its second-hand shop, the group also sells goods sent by European groups, supports displaced children and has granted microcredit loans to 50 women.
