Located on an island between Finland and Sweden, Emmaus Åland is a group made up of volunteers and social enterprise workers. The workers are referred to the group by social services. The work enables them to remain active and acquire experience before finding a job.
The volunteers and social enterprise workers carry out the usual work of Emmaus communities: collecting, sorting, repairing and selling goods at low prices. The income from the second-hand sales are used to support projects run by organisations in Eastern Europe, in the Western Sahara, Azerbaïdjan and South America.
Emmaus Åland also supports the Emmaus groups, Cuna Nazareth in Peru and Oselya in Ukraine.
