Located in Dover, Emmaus St Martins is a community where 22 companions live and work, and carry out the traditional activities of Emmaus communities: collecting, sorting, repairing and selling goods at low prices. The accommodation is at Archcliffe Fort, a former military site which was acquired then restored so as to house the first companion, in 1996. Emmaus St Martins has two second-hand shops, one at the community in Dover, the other in Canterbury. At the shop in Dover, after shopping, customers can enjoy a cup of tea served by the companions. Emmaus St Martins also runs a gardening service for the wider community and has a vegetable garden at Archcliffe Fort, where the community grows a variety of plants.
