The building, which accommodates the 24 companions at Emmaus Oxford, was completed in 2009. In 2013, the house next to the accommodation was turned into an annexe, which houses up to four companions. The companions at Emmaus Oxford carry out the usual work of Emmaus communities: collecting, sorting, repairing and selling goods at low prices at its two second-hand shops, the most recent of which, Templar’s Square shop, opened in 2011. In addition, the group shows solidarity by offering its services to people in need. For instance, companions do gardening for disabled people and have helped formerly homeless people settle into new homes.
