For more than 20 years, Emmaus Sweden has been involved in international solidarity work with people in the Western Sahara. On their first site visit on 8 March, representatives of Emmaus Stockholm including the Chair, Julia Finér, were aggressively and unduly expelled by Moroccan security forces.
Unfortunately, Sahrawi people undergo this kind of handling every day, as Freedom House reveals in its 2014 report.
Emmaus International condemns these practices, and calls on the Moroccan authorities to comply with fundamental rights, in particular freedom of movement and freedom of expression, and the work of international solidarity organisations.
