On 17 October, an auction will be held in Tours to raise funds for Emmaus International. Over the past few months, Emmaus associations from all over France have been putting aside their finest pieces especially for the event!
The second edition of the Emmaus International Auction will take place on 17 October at the Hôtel des Ventes Giraudeau in Tours. In 2013, Emmaus Angers and Emmaus Tours organised the first edition of the event, which raised €34,000 for Emmaus International’s work. This time round, the French associations look set to raise even more funds!
The second-hand goods collected by the Emmaus groups sometimes include some real treasures, hence the idea to auction off selected items in order fund even more international solidarity work.
"Over the past two years, the Emmaus associations have been taking special care to identify valuable items from among the goods they receive and put them aside for the auction", explains Jean-Noël Ecrémont, who is coordinating the sale. "This initiative is based on the idea that the very best of what we collect from our communities can be used to fund solidarity”, adds Jean Rousseau, Chair of Emmaus International and head of Emmaus Angers.
Thanks to the hard work of the organisers and the generosity of some 60 Emmaus associations, the auction catalogue is truly remarkable! Collectors and buyers who wish to contribute to this solidarity event will be delighted by the huge silver vases, statuettes, bas-reliefs and paintings that are on offer.
