Albert Tévoedjré, from Benin, is a politician and activist, committed to fighting for universal access to a dignified life. In 1978, he published “La Pauvreté, richesse des peoples” (Poverty, our greatest asset), which was the starting point for his long friendship with Abbé Pierre.

“That meeting changed the colour of time and faces”

Jean-Marie Viennet is a priest and friend of Emmaus Montbéliard. In 1981, he had a chance meeting with Abbé Pierre. Immediately, the two men struck up a great friendship. Jean-Marie became Abbe Pierre’s confidant up until his death.

Abbé Pierre on stage

In September and October actor Nicolas Vitiello played Abbé Pierre in a solo production of “La Voix des sans voix” (“Voice of the Voiceless”), for which he wrote the script. He tells us how this idea came about and why he sees the message of Abbé Pierre's struggles as such a source of inspiration. The play will visit other towns in 2017, we will let you know once the dates are confirmed.

FFrom 15th September to 15th December, the Abbé Pierre Emmaus Centre will host the exhibition Street Art Towards a Fairer World. Come and discover the works of artists striving for a better world with every brushstroke. These works will, of course, feature Emmaus and Abbé Pierre, who continue to inspire the street artists time and time again.
