Emmaus Europe at the European Parliament

On 2nd February 2016 Willi Does, President of Emmaus Europe, met the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, in Strasbourg (France). At the centre of discussions was the painful issue of the fate of migrants and European migration policies which continue to create victims in their thousands, in a Europe that sadly remains inward-looking.

Bangladesh – Emmaus Thanapara's work

In January 2016, an Emmaus International delegation set off to visit the Emmaus Thanapara Swallows association in Bangladesh in order to take stock of the progress made in providing access to healthcare in this isolated region where the local population lacks access to its fundamental rights. Through its numerous activities and strong roots in the village, Emmaüs Thanapara works to remedy this as far as possible, ensuring people’s fundamental rights are upheld.

Poor housing is making France sick

On 28 January, the Abbé Pierre Foundation presented Paris with its 21st report on sub-standard housing in France. In its report, the Foundation stresses the extent to which poor housing represents a public health problem and as well as the risk it poses of urban segregation. As in previous years, the report provides a detailed overview of sub-standard housing in France.
